Holiday Gift Giving
Author: Karen Dixon

It is that time of year again, Again?

You have been dreading it all year, and you have finally forgotten the disaster of previous years, but it is back. Yes, the only time of year Hallmark is guaranteed to make a profit. The shameless commercialization, the numerous gut wrenching invites, and yes, a pound of guilt in for good measure time of year.

It's the HOLIDAYS! No matter what your religious orientation you may belong to, the last three months of the year turn into the three months of party, gift to give, and the what to do time of year. Granted the first 9 months are not a cake walk, but even new mothers have said the first 9 months are the easiest.

So are you going to go thru the same panic, nervous stomach frenzy again, repeating the pattern until you die! Thank Goodness, NO! Stop the vicious cycle and relax because you know exactly what to get everyone from your Great Aunt in Wisconsin to your friends, it is really the perfect gift even for the finicky organic Vegan neighbor who watched your cat over the summer.

Answer : A bottle of wine.

Not just any bottle will do will it, oh yes it will. The best gift is to head right down the wine aisle, head over to the wine store, or go on line and order away. Wait! You say, what about budget? Any budget works and given the economic times a bottle of wine comes in handy. From Charles Shaw to the newer non-alcoholic Ariel Wines or the totally organic wines with low sulfites. Run over to Cost Plus, Pier One, or even the Hallmark store for those convenient bottle bags, cardboard deco boxes, and the handy gift bag with some tissue to wrap up your always-stylish gift. Oh! You don't know if they like red wine or white wine or that bottle of champagne. Just use your common sense for the right bottle. If you know your sister's friend is a Vegan go with a plain, simple white like Ariel Sauvignon blanc or your co-worker is on the Atkins Diet and eating a Cow a day get a bold Cabernet Sauvignon.

After one trip or two, your shopping is done and you can actually enjoy the parties, gift exchange, and oh yeah, the receiving!
