Corkscrew stuck?
Author: Karen Dixon

You have just pulled the chardonnay from the refrigerator, stuck a corkscrew in and the cork starts to break up. Stop! You have either a frozen bottle or a bad cork. The practical solution is to push the cork into the bottle and decanter the wine. Nah, too much work for a glass of wine. Try holding the bottle upside down for a minute, and then reinsert the corkscrew and the cork should slip out easily and no decanter needed. The pressure and moisture from the wine softens the cork. This works on the plastic corks, and for red wines as well.
